Search by model number or serial number. Get Support. Confirmed VAC at the output. Ran it for about 5 mins and then shut it off. No problem and ran for about 30mins. The generator has only hrs on it but it is a I plan on running it again later this week to see if the problem comes back. I think I might just order a voltage regulator to have it on hand for the day it does actually fail however, I am worried it may be something beyond the regulator.

Has anyone had and intermittent voltage regulator problem? My search of the archives show only out and out failures. Thanks in advance! Join iRV2. Before buying a new regulator I'd check all wire connections and your transfer switch.

There are lots of reasons electricity won't flow. Flip the circuit breakers on the generator on and off to clean contacts. Does your generator have an outlet on it to monitor AC directly at the source? Wire connections can loosen up and drive you nuts with an intermittent power interruption. Hook a meter up directly to the generator output and test it there.

I check for voltage right at the generator side of the breakers to confirm it is working or not working with my DVM. The transfer switch shouldn't matter because that is down stream of the generator. This truly was either generator providing power Not a loose connection. When the light on the regulator was off It is behaving like an intermittent regulator but it could be a problem in the stator assembly as well as it is upstream of the regulator That's why I suspect the regulator but have never heard or found one to act intermittently.

Thought I would post he link for others' information. Just to let you know, I had the same problem with the led. Trouble shot the system and could not find a fault. Ran the generator again and led on and generator outputing correct voltage. I did remove all the terminals from the regulator whilst trouble shooting so there is a possiblity of a dirty contact but I more inclined to think the regulator is the culprit.

Thanks Martin. I did see your other thread. I haven't been able to go through the troubleshooting flow chart yet but mine is still acting up. Had to start the generator three times the other day until it finally started delivering AC power. I'm worried it is something other than the regulator but until I get a chance to look closer, I think I might just go ahead and order a new regualator anyway to have it on hand.

I had the same problem on my QP65 and it turned out the field boost current is only applied while the start button is pushed. You can try holding the button a little longer to let the current build or install a field boost kit 0HSRV which provides a current source independent of the start button being depressed.

Have not had a problem with VAC coming up since the install. Thanks for the info on the field boost kit, I'll check it out.

And yes that is correct with the field boost only being applied when the start button is depressed. Was able to determine today that mine is also having the field boost problem. When holding the start button down the LED is dimly lit. Holding it down for seconds gets the LED to light fully.

Does it every time. I'm going to look into the field boost kit Tom17 suggested. Just installed the field boost uplift kit yesterday and now I get VAC every time. Thanks Tom17 for steering me on the right direction. I owe you one. I know this is an old thread. I just now found it and the info seems to have solved my occasional problem of no AC at startup. The info about holding the start button for an extra second works for me.
